The Water Gap Singers, under the direction of Joseph Mello, is a community chorus based in northwestern New Jersey, dedicated to performing quality classical choral music. Founded in 1984 by John Arnedt, and beginning with a small group of members singing madrigals, the chorus grew in size and experience over the next 30 years, able to perform music ranging from pre-Renaissance through the 21st century.
Under Mr. Mello’s leadership the Water Gap Singers continues to grow and flourish. Our legacy of enthusiasm, camaraderie and diligence continues and is reflected in each performance.
The chorus has an audience of community members, family and friends who enjoy the twice yearly concerts and receptions. The Water Gap Singers welcome new members each season and is non-discriminatory. No auditions are required, just the ability to match pitches. Membership consists of a few highly trained singers, college and high school choir members, church choir singers and others who love to study music and sing. The rehearsal and concert spaces are wheelchair accessible.
The Water Gap Singers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Funding has been made possible, in part, by the Warren County Cultural and Heritage Division.
